So, this weekend, Abe went hunting with a friend from work. They went out early Saturday morning, and Saturday around noon, Abe's old roommates and friends from high school, Lance and Smitty came to spend some QT with the old Abester. Abe arrived home shortly after their arrival, and informed all he had shot a deer and had been unable to locate him. We all decided to help Abe in his quest, and after a very entertaining stop for lunch at Whataburger (there was an older couple TOTALLY arguing, she was VERY much swearing and he was trying to get her to keep it down- very entertaining), we all went on the hunt. Abe had promised $100 to whoever found the deer, so we were all totally on the prowl. (Upon discussing this at Whataburger, the cashier said for $100, he would go out in the woods and pretend he was a deer. It was a very entertaining lunch!)

After about an hour of searching, some of us feeling that we would end up on the 5 o'clock news as missing hikers, and me getting very lost, we gave up, and all went home none the richer. We actually are still questioning the accuracy of Abe's story, due to coming across some other hunters as we were leaving who said they came across a deer that sounded similar to Abe's supposed kill,in the same vicinity, who looked completely unscathed (of course, they were extremely intoxicated, so who knows)

Afterward, we came home and laughed a whole lot more, especially while quoting the crazy, angry lady at lunch, made some food and did some wii bowling. I actually won one round once we decided to play for money, although the guys never paid up. We had a great weekend overall, and really enjoyed having friends to visit. Anyone else want to head to the high country?

Besides the weekend's events, Cole has been in rare form. He is constantly up to no good, and is becoming quite vocal about getting and not getting his way (he's still not forming any real words, but trust me, he's vocal!) The other day while getting ready, I heard an unfamiliar clinking of ice cubes, only to turn around and find this:

A few days prior to that, I heard nothing, only to find Cole had once again gotten a hold of lipstick. Of course he was gouging it out with his fingers, and this time he also got a hold of a pair of manicure scissors (YIKES!) and used them to gouge out what his fingers could no longer reach. I must say, as covered in lipstick as he was, I was very impressed at how expertly he managed to get it on his lips! He's been really in to chapstick lately, so I'm sure that's helped with his application technique.

I also haven't posted a video lately, so if you scroll down and pause/stop the music this little beauty will be much more entertaining!
He is starting to be such a boy (minus the lipstick of course!) He thinks bodily emissions are hysterical (before I shot this, he was actually the one that had burped first, and when Abe did it back, he just kept trying to respond, so I grabbed my camera) Boy, oh boy, I'm in trouble!

BTW- It's been snowing for about the last hour and a half, and is just now starting to stick! We may get some more winter after all! (the last few weeks, its felt like spring!)

Must be going around

So, thanks to either allergies, a new cold, or a pick up where my last cold left off, I'm congested again. Besides the incessant sniffles, I have felt over all fine- until early this morning.

I had taken some Tylenol Severe Head Cold medicine before bed, which relieved my symptoms for about an hour or two, at which point Cole woke up and I brought into bed with us. As I listened to the quiet breathing of my two guys, I realized, yet again, I couldn't breathe. I went and took the last 2 pills in my Tylenol pack, and waited to be able to breathe once more. I waited and waited, and next thing I knew I had tears in my eyes from a pain in my chest. I became very hot, and then cold and clammy. It all ended after about 5 minutes, at which point I got a little nauseous, and was glad it was over.

About half an hour after that, the pain started again, and this time with a vengeance. I knew there was no way I could keep laying in bed, and got up to sit on the computer. About half way to my desk, I became doubled over in pain, clammy, shaky, and nauseous all over again. I went back in my room, woke Abe up, and told him what had been happening. He suggested I call the 24-hour RN hotline provided by our insurance, so I did. The guy asked me a few questions and then said, "Here's what I want you to do, hang up the phone and call 911 or have your husband take you to the ER right away." I thought oh great- finally, Cole is sleeping well for once, and of course I'm not, and now this guy wants me to go spend the wee hours of the morning in the ER.

So- that's what we did.

We all loaded up in the car. Cole felt like he was going on a little adventure. And after being poked, drugged and tested, they decided to diagnose it as an adverse reaction to medication. Fortunately, we were in and out in about two and half hours, and dear Abe came home, jumped in the shower and headed off to his 12+ hour workday. Cole fell asleep on the way back home (bless his heart), but was such a trooper while at the hospital (he even scored a stuffed bear and a couple of nurse girlfriends.) I finally fell back asleep after Abe left, only to be awoken shortly after by a rarin' to go little boy.

So, as I write this, the bruise on my hand from the IV is progressing, Cole again is napping (I may try to join him), and the hotline people called to check in, and let me know I was the second person she had talked to today that had had problems with cold medication last night. Must be going around.

Life Somewhat Boring

Cole helping sweep the garage last weekend

So, we really haven't been up to anything! No weather to report, no trips to discuss, nothing. However, I did finally make it to the grocery store and saved $20 with coupons and price matching. You know your life has hit a plateau when you are excited about your coupon savings! I then came home and cleaned out and organized my pantry- woo hoo!!! Not only that, but my days revolve around watching my DVR'd shows from the night before, now that all the shows are finally starting back up. So exciting! (There is a hint of sarcasm there)

Just a couple of notes worth mentioning, though: tonight is Grissom's last night on CSI (if you watch, you understand the impact this has) and tomorrow, the girl I have written about previously that was in a plane crash, officially starts blogging again! Wow, I don't know how I handle such earth shattering excitement! Cole just woke up, so he is about to make things a little more exciting, I'm sure.

Up and Running

So after much turmoil (well, not too much), I have transferred files to my new computer (hopefully all of them). At this point, I won't bore all with Christmas pictures, nor disgust you with hunting pictures (they still have claim to only the two pigs). Just wanted to update and say not much has been happening, although how about them Cardinals??!!?? Who'd have thought? Now that things are settled, I should be updating much more regularly. For now, however, this is it because my little guy is beckoning me from his room. Nap's over and so is Mommy's break!

Still no pictures

The hard drive issue is still causing some problems, but I'm working on it. I just wanted to update so everyone didn't think I was just slacking. We had a fairly uneventful New Years. We did make a quick trip down to Phoenix to make a showing at our dear friends' 50th anniversary party (parents of Abe's best friend and the guy I used to work for who introduced Abe and I). We got there kind of late due to Abe's purchasing of a new (used) bow for his hunting trip the next day. Cole and I had to sit and wait for the guy to get Abe all fitted, which really began to wear on both of us. However, Cole found Abe's target practice session very entertaining (that kid really enjoys violence- scary).
Early, early on the first, Abe's dad, John, came to the house and the two of them went hunting for javelina, deer and if they would have been lucky enough to see one, bear and mountain lion. They each got their pigs on the first day and I was then privileged enough to have them skinning and butchering said pigs in the garage (not a favorite occurrence of mine, but I'm happy that they got their pigs, BTW- be grateful that my pictures are not up yet for this post LOL). They spent the next two days trying to get their deer, but to no avail (they will be trying again this weekend). I should mention, they were just hunting behind the house, which worked out very well for them, being that after a day's hunt they got to come home to a nice warm house and hot shower (versus camping out). They were unable to hunt Sunday due to the storm and fog that settled on the mesa, and the snow that followed. Instead, Saturday evening and Sunday day, we had a virtual processing plant in the great room, mixing up 30 lbs of chorizo. Abe and John had a great time, and so did Cole and I since we got to go shopping while they were hunting.
Well, that's pretty much all we've been up to, and like I said, be grateful that I didn't have my pictures working this post!
