Most people, at first, thought he was the Mad Hatter. When we would explain that he was Willy Wonka, they would start laughing hysterically, and then exclaim that they hadn't seen that movie in about 20 years- to which we had to reply that we hadn't seen it for about 20 minutes. Haha!
Cole ultimately got really into Trick or Treating. He would wait for his friend to say 'trick or treat' and while the unsuspecting treat giver would be handing her her candy, Cole would reach into their bowls and help himself. What was a mom to do? It was pretty embarrassing, but everyone got a good laugh at his cavalierism. He walked the entire time, refusing to be carried ever, and insisting on carrying his bucket the majority of the time (which got pretty darn heavy!)
Halloween was also a big day for Cole because he got a BIG BOY BED!!! Cole has a crib that is one of those convertible types (crib to toddler bed to full size bed), so I had planned on just using that. However, upon learning the prices of all the conversion kits, and realizing that I could buy a brand new toddler bed for less than the toddler conversion kit, which would probably be much more enticing to a two year old to have a NEW big boy bed, rather than a converted crib,
I have been pricing them out and checking Craig's list. (though we still plan on purchasing the full size conversion kit. I picked this crib specifically because it does not look like a converted crib when it is a full size bed)
Well, ironically enough, I had found one on Craig's List that I was going to place a call on, and then Saturday morning, our neighbor stopped by. They were cleaning out/redecorating their son's room and were going to be taking a bunch of stuff to Goodwill- including a RACE CAR bed (way cooler than my Craig's list find)- would we be interested. Abe said absolutely, and we walked down to their house and scooped it off their porch instantly. We brought it back up to our house, gave it a good wipe down, and made it all up. Cole was SOOO proud! Here he is showing off his new racing digs!

That night he slept for almost 6 hours straight (which is HUGE for us!) Of course, that could have had something to do with his two hours of trick or treating! But he has stayed in the bed beautifully ever since. He doesn't even attempt to get out without me coming in to get him! Our neighbor came by on Sunday to see how he was doing, and when I mentioned him staying in it, she made the funny comment that her son was the same way, almost like they are kennel trained from being in the crib. So now, we just hope Cole will keep his 'kennel training'!
